Pediatric critical care medicine specialty continues to grow and evolve, The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of today is greatly different, when compared to as recently as 5 years ago. the diagnosis and treatment approach of critical illness have changed overnight in some cases. Efforts to prevent and improve the primary care for patients before referring them to the PICU had led to better outcomes from critical illness. And the conditions that were almost fatal, a decade ago, have greatly improved. Advances in molecular biology have led to the era of personalized medicine we now can individualize the treatment approach according to the specific needs of each patient.
