He is important to history because his book, the Analects, influenced Chinese culture and politics and also for more than 2,000 years, Chinese people who were looking for government positions had to go through a cycle of studies that derived from the one Confucius developed.

He was a very privileged man but wanted to find peace within him, so he set out to find the meaning of life. His search led him to meditate and fast alone in nature. He heavily believed in enlightenment and the release of nirvana.
Siddhartha Gautama was very important because he gave lots of opportunities to Hindu people in lower castes. Buddhism challenged the gender inequalities of the caste system and that gave hope to a lot of Hindu women.

THe confucian ways usually did not believe that women could rule, but this was a time where women were starting to gain more freedom and she was born into a very rich family. That being said she had many opportunities to become education and to gain power.
