They were a real team, a collective unit. Now, there wasn’t one true leader or voice on the team, but that was the beauty of it. Everybody talked, worked hard, and encouraged each other. That was something I immediately started to emulate and at the next practice my coach had called me out in front of the team just to proclaim how coachable I am and that I was “really showing signs of a great leader” for the team. Next game, he played me more minutes: I scored 14 points, had two steals, held the best player on the other team to zero points, and we won the game. Leadership, character, and mental fortitude can be taught! Through athletic directing and coaching, I hope to mold all young kids that I encounter into hard-working and mature students that exemplify outstanding leadership and character qualities. I want to help make the leaders of tomorrow because I know what it takes to be a leader of today. I will never stop working towards the next success for, “to whom much is given, much is required.” I am fully committed to giving it my all at Roanoke
