The type of medical office that interest me is Family Medicine. Family practice is similar to general practice in nature, but centering around the family unit. My interest is because your able to gain knowledge and maintain the skills that your able to put in use in dealing with all ages, both sexes and sick cases. In most Family Medicine offices, the General Practitioner see all kinds of patient with all kinds of problems and could be handled by the practitioner. If, however the symptoms of a case suggest serious or unknown cause the patient may be referred to a specialist for further diagnosis or treatment. Performing administrative skills helps manage the business affairs of the practice. The performance of general skills of the medical assistant is concerned with legal, ethical, moral and professional conduct with their duties. Many other tasks are performed regularly along with important one is patient education after each office visit, with working knowledge of medical terminology is also essential to communicate with other health care professionals. The way this is done by gathering as much information regarding the patient in the office. Assist the patient to the room, make sure the patient information is up to date accurate and legible, taking and recording vital signs of the patient. Then, keeping the doctor well informed of the patient vital signs and chief of complaint, the time of the appointment. The medical assistant may be responsible in some cases to preform EKG s and not read to patient, lab work such as pregnancy test, blood collection ,specimen collection to be sent out to other labs for final results. Patient information such as proper labeling, DOB, first, last and middle name. Specimens must be stored and labeled properly which is a major responsibility of the Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist. All insurance is accepted except Antenna. They may also choose to use the cash for service sliding fee scale, and care credit. Accepting insurance especially different types of insurances in one office is very important because more people use insurance the more revenue will come in. And those who could not afford to seek care if they do not have insurance could use the pay scale method. Having insurance guarantee that the office will receive compensation for the services the Doctor has provided. Insurance is a big part of most practices revenue. When dealing with insurance you can almost assume the amount of income generated depending on the procedure this helps with accounting for the practices income. Different insurance company’s pay out different amounts for different procedures so it is best that offices accept different insurance coverage and plans in order to generate more income. The offices expenses would pay employees, supplies such as syringes, pens, pencils, paper, and furniture. Equipment used for different procedures, promotion pamphlets, commercials, signs, and continuing education classes would also be considered expenses as well. Assets the office may own are staff that works in the office, equipment, the building the office is operating out of and any inventory the office
