Personal Narrative: A Career In Special Education

Ever since I was young, I have always been drawn to people with special needs. My sister Grace is diagnosed with down syndrome and autism, and she is one of the most amazing individuals I have ever met. Growing up, my sister and I attended a camp for children with special needs and their siblings. Not only did my love for these special children increase, but I began to consider a career in special education. As time has gone on, my love has continued to flourish and my dreams began to become a reality. The camp I grew up going to became my first job, and I loved every second of it. My time working was cut short when I moved from Maryland to Alabama three years ago. I went from an area where special education jobs and services were very prominent,
