We originally ended the soccer game with a tied score, so we had to break the tie somehow; we were all too exhausted to play overtime, though. As the two coaches did their usual scamper to the center of the field in the past, it was always to shake hands and show the players how to be a good sport. This did not happen today, though. I could hear our harsh referee explaining to the coaches what was about to happen. There was no use listening, for I knew the solution: we were about to have a shoot-out. All I wanted to do was please my coach, who I am also able to call my dad. The trophies were not what I was playing for; it was all for the high-five I get from him after playing like a professional.
As you may have guessed, I got back in the goal for another try the next season. Although I told myself that I would never put myself in that situation again, I did at our very next game. I finally realized that there was no way I could just abandon the game I love.
I will never quit that completes me. I cannot image what my life would be like now if I would have just given up after that loss. The main lesson I took out of that tournament is that everyone messes up at some point in their life, you just need to know how to get back up and try again.
