Personal Narrative: My Trip To Mexico

During the summer my grandma decided to take us to Mexico but first before we even get there we have to be in the car for over four hours in pitch black darkness. It was the usual sunny day in southern California we had just got out of work and were trying to get home to sleep before we went on the trip. Later that evening my aunt parks her car in the front of the house and opens up the trunk so we can pack some clothes and electronic devices. Then we get on the road, the four hour and a half drive may not sound like a far drive but it was. In the darkness of the late night being the only car in the streets the only thing shinning down on us was the moon. Hours pass by and I am starting to feel the heat of the temperature rise tremendously. Since we are going to Mexico I figured it would stay like this for a while. I decided to close my eyes for a moment and I was awoken by my aunt tapping my shoulder that we made it to the border. I looked through the window and saw bright orange cones placed along one side of the street to let people know where to go. My eyes look straight up and see a huge Mexican flag painted on the wall which told me we were about to cross into Mexico. Passing through some of their security cameras I came across a messy empty street, we were in Mexico. There were homeless stranded dogs everywhere that looked like they had not eaten in a while. The buildings we were passing by had spray paint all over them and the properties I was seeing were old and looked like they were barely holding on to its structure. The clutter of trash and unwanted furniture I was seeing in the streets felt unreal because in the states I rarely see
