The Big Game
On a warm February day we had one of the biggest games of our left ahead of us. We were getting ready to play the best team in the league, the team that hadn’t lost a game all season. When I thought of all this, I started to worry and become nervous. But in my heart I knew I had to lay by best and not let any of the pressure get to me.
As soon as the game started I could tell that we were pitching their ace player. I knew they were going to do everything in their power to try to beat us. As soon as our first batter stepped in the box it seemed that he got a first pitch strike and he drove the ball to the left field. This wasn’t the only time this happened. Everyone who came up to bat did the same thing and for that moment it appeared we had the game in the bag. After we had three outs, we headed out to their field and our pitcher struck the side. We weren’t out in the field for five minutes before we came back in to hit and we did phenomenal. Everyone was hitting line drives and base hits.

We couldn’t throw strikes and when we did, they hit the ball and we couldn’t make plays. It seemed like we had never played baseball a day in our life before now. The game was now tied and somehow we managed to get three out and we came in to hit. It was now the top of the fourth inning and nothing had changed from the previous innings. We managed to get a hit every once in awhile, but we weren’t able to score with runners in scoring position. It is now the bottom of the fourth inning, and we are able to tie the game. We struck out the side again for three straight strikeouts. At the top of the fifth inning we started to hit the ball again and put batters in scoring positions. That inning we scored three more runs making it a 9 to 6
