I started to panic, we could not lose this game. It was the only game we had to win to go to the championship. Win or go home. As I jumped for the ball and came down, I stepped on someone’s foot and twisted my ankle! At that moment I felt no pain, it was probably adrenaline. I just kept on playing. Coach called a time out and told us to settle down. I wasn’t listening to a lot he was saying. I was too busy looking at the other team and seeing how we lost last time in this same situation. As we broke the huddle I turned around and was amazed. All I saw was the bleachers full of people, but I couldn’t hear a thing but my teammates. When I grabbed the ball from the referee and passed it in. I took one step and I froze. The most antagonizing pain shot through my ankle. I thought no one noticed; but my team did. They yelled to see if I was ok. I ignored them and played through it. It was the worst game of my life, but we won. After the game, the coaches were yelling at me because I wasn’t playing defense like I should have been. I couldn’t tell them I was hurt or they would have sat me out of the biggest game ever.
