Reflection of Personal Power and Privilege
It is tough to realize how many privileges I have been blessed with while analyzing the Power and Privilege Wheel when I have never in my life, until recent years, felt like I have held any power or privilege. Throughout my life I have been touched by gendered violence whether it is sexually or verbally- intentionally or inadvertently, among other oppressive practices. Being able-bodied I have been able to put myself to work and through school, which has allowed me to pull away from this violence when possible. It is important to remember that gendered violence and oppression is still a large part of our world-culture. This is why we still need feminism.
