Once an inmate is executed, nothing can be fixed after he or she got executed. There has been proven incidents where mistakes have been made in the past. According from a recent study by Columbia University Law School, researchers has found that 2/3 of the capital cases contain serious errors. Since 1973, at least 140 people were released from being executed with new evidence that proved their innocence. At the same time, over 982 people have been executed. Therefore, if you think about it, every eight people that have been executed, one of them should have never been convicted. These statistics means that there is a high risk or chance that we have been putting many innocents to death. It is safe to say our justice punishment system is unreliable.
