Persuasive Essay: Death Penalty Capital punishment, more recruitable by the name “the death penalty,” death as a punishment given by a court of law for very serious crimes. The death penalty is an extremely controversial topic, because of the way people look at the “act.” There are different crimes that may result in the death penalty sentence, including; terrorism, genocide, murder, treason, and kidnapping resulting in death. Consequently, some states are not supportive of the death penalty, since they are not certain the case may give the correct results. Those encompass; lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging. Most people who oppose of capital punishment dislike the fact that sometimes these methods are not successful. An example of these exterminations, where the execution isn't successful endures with the lethal injection method. Lethal injection is where “...the inmate is injected with sodium thiopental - an anesthetic, which puts the inmate to sleep. Next flows pavulon or pancuronium bromide, which paralyzes the entire muscle system and stops the inmate's breathing. Finally, the flow of potassium chloride stops the heart. Death results from anesthetic overdose and respiratory and cardiac arrest while the condemned person is unconscious.” Although sometimes lethal injection is successful, other times it can be ineffective due to, “..a member of the execution team injects the drugs into a muscle instead of a vein, or if the needle becomes clogged, extreme pain can result.” Ultimately people are frightened that there may be a mishap to occur during the execution, and the death will not be rapid and “painless.” Nevertheless people are scared that the ones being executed are not being treated fairly if they feel the pain as they
