Politicians have tried to pass gun control laws in the United States since the start of the country but it never has worked. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was made to regulate interstate commerce of all firearms following President Kennedy's assassination. However, it did not take long for people to find a loophole and soon people were importing the guns the law was trying to regulate for “sporting purposes.” This shows that attempts at gun control laws in the past were not effective and they won't be in the future …show more content…
Gun control laws are built around to idea that mass shooters will act like rational people before they commit their mass shootings. This is shown when gun control laws make it more complex for people to legally get a gun, increase the price of various guns, and increase jail time for mass shooters. Unfortunately mass shooters are not rational people and therefore they don't care about the price and long term effects of their mass shooting especially suicide is part of the plan for them. So all restricting guns will do is make it harder and more irritating for civilians to obtain a gun legally and not stop criminals from getting a
