Soon I was volunteering as a physical therapy aide in a large skilled nursing facility. I started practicing in the field of physical therapy in 1987 after receiving an associate’s degree in physical therapy from Delta College in Bay City, Michigan. After moving to Georgia in 1989, I enrolled at Georgia State University and in 1993, I earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. It is imperative and essential that we strive to practice EBP to ensure that our students, patients, and clients are receiving effective therapeutic interventions based on sound research and clinical expertise. “Fake and bake” is not accessible practice nor is it in the best interest of our patients and our profession. The utilization of EBP guarantees professionalism within the field of PT, while providing effective patient care. My colleagues and I have instituted a policy of utilizing EBP during our evaluations, and the development and implementation of the student’s PT plan of care; this is especially important given the litigious environment of the school system. I am excited and nervous as we embark on EB2 and revisit the multiple statistical terms; I will be sharing the additional knowledge with my colleagues this coming school
