The “Pit and the Pendulum” gives a whole new perspective or viewpoint based from the film and the original story. For the original story, the perspective focuses on the first person that had a lot of fear throughout his journey but at the same time he believed in himself and he didn’t give up easily. When he was trapped in the dungeon for the most part, all he could think about was fear and he was very scared the whole time because he didn’t know whether he would still be able to escape the dungeon since it was very dark and he was drugged from the food he ate. He didn’t focused on how he was going to die and not be able to escape but he believed in himself and he was very positive for himself. Edgar Allan Poe’s story had a perspective of how a person wasn’t negative but he just made sure that he had intentions of just very calm and believing that he will pass through any problems that was going on with him. While the film adaptation of Roger Corman, had different perspective which focuses on family and trust. The film focuses on family because Nicholas who was one of the main character had experienced terrible situations when he was still young. He was very braved enough to went through all the experiences by himself and he was not negative at all but he had hoped through the whole time. While the film, focuses on trust and betrayal because most of the characters in the film there was so much betrayal. The whole time, everyone believed that Elizabeth was dead but she betrayed everyone plus having an affair with his own doctor Charles who was very closed friends to Nicholas.
