Metropolitan Nashville Police Academy is among the best training facilities in the country. In 1975 the first session began with twenty one week of basic training. Ever since then it has been producing the best cops in the country. For the Past 40 years metropolitan Nashville police academy has increased its training length to twenty two weeks of training. Which basic police trainees go through, which is the foundation upon which the career of all officers begins? The academy has variety of sworn officers who have served as instructor at the academy and everyone who wishes to become a police officer in Nashville has to go through them at academy.
My first time visiting Nashville police academy I was so excited because I wanted to see what challenges they go through at the academy. And how the officer trainee overcomes those challenges. As a student who is pursuing a career in criminal justice and maybe in the future becoming a police officer, this was important to me because this visitation and observation would give me an Idea of what I will be signing up for. Being in that place you could feel that it wasn’t an ordinary place. The academy has produced men and women who have gained a new sense of pride and purpose in life which is the most important thing a human being could have. While we were marching from the parking lot heading to the gym to observe the officer trainee I noticed my teacher officer overall saluting the place and the flag I felt like I was standing on the holy ground.
