Being a police officer is one of if not the most dangerous professions that you could ever have. You never really know what kind of trouble that you will have to face on your patrol or shift for the day or night. Your day could start out with a pursuit of a man who just robbed a home and end saving some young child’s life. As I was looking through ALL OF THE VERY UNFOURTOUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THE OFFICERS HAD LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE LINE OF DUTY IT GOES TO SHOW HOW YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR YOUR LIFE AND ALSO IN MOST CASES YOUR PARTNERS. THE DEATHS OF THE OFFICERS RANGE FROM TRAGADIES SUCH AS GUNFIRE RELATED TO HEALTH RELATED DEATHS SUCH AS HEART ATTACKS. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT THE RISK IS ALWAYS THERE. SOME OF THE MOST RECENT TRAGADIES ARE OF OFFICERS THAT ONLY HAVE A COUPLE OF YEARS OR EVEN JUST MONTHS ON THEIR DEPARTMENTS. THE OFFICERS HAD FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT THEY HAD LEFT BEHIND FAR TOO SOON. MANY OF THE OFFICERS BEING PARENTS AND THAT’S WHERE I BELIVE THE SITUIATIONS ARE THE TOUGHEST. AS A SON OF A POLICE OFFICER SEEING SUCH POST ABOUT THE OFFICERS LEAVING BEHIND WIVES AND CHILDREN THAT’S WHERE IT REALLY “HITS HOME TO ME”. MY FATHER HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME IN LIFE SO I COULDN’T IMAGINE HOW THE UNFOURTUNATE CHILDREN WHOSE MOTHERS AND FATHERS DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY FELT. PHYSICAL FITTNESS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TRAIT YOU NEED IN ORDER TO BE A POLICE OFFICER, NOT ONLY FOR YOUR SAFETY BUT FOR FELLOW OFFICERS AND THE PEOPLE
