Based on the current set of political, economical, social and religious beliefs and values that I now hold as a seventeen year old, I have decided to create my own ideology. It is called Christian revivalism. This ideology is borne out of my desire to see a generation of young Christians rising up to take their place as Christians in a world that I find is increasingly hurtling towards moral decay. Today’s teenagers are growing up in a society where we are told to conform to the moral decadence that surrounds us. As such, through this ideology, I want to inspire today’s Christians, particularly the younger generation to make a stand and change the world based on Christian beliefs with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of our faith.
There are four key ideas that underpin Christian revivalism. First, that everything this ideology stands for is based on the belief that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and the Bible and its prophecies are undisputedly true. Second, the realization and awareness that we as the current generation may be living in the end times and as such, it is more urgent than ever that we win people for Christ. Third, that the Jews are God’s chosen people with the creation of the state of Israel a living testament of a prophecy in the Bible being fulfilled and as Christians, believing that we should wholeheartedly support Israel as the Jewish homeland and acknowledging the significant role Israel plays in Christian eschatology. Fourth, that the young and upcoming generation of Christians has an important part to play in bringing about revival in the world and sharing the Gospel to the four corners of the globe.
My ideology’s main slogan would be, “This is Revival”. It’s short, catchy and inspiring. Personally, every time I hear these three words, a feeling of excitement and eagerness fills me and I believe this slogan will have the ability to stir Christians around the world. The secondary slogan used would be, “Revival starts with Me” as it lends a sense of belonging and personal connection to this ideology which is crucially powerful in moving people to act. Christian revivalism would be represented by the colour red. This is simply because Christianity is based upon the acknowledgement that Jesus died for our sins and rose again and His death is represented by red, the colour of innocent blood being shed for humanity.
Christian revivalism would be represented by the song, “I Surrender” by Hillsong Church. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcnfT4arZtI This song speaks of wholly surrendering our lives to Jesus and letting Him have His way in us. It’s a powerful song that certainly has the ability to stir up all kinds of positive emotions in the people singing it. I believe this song accurately represents this ideology because Christian revivalism is all about living our lives for Jesus and doing everything for Him and not our own pride, gain, benefits or glory. In terms of placement in the modern political spectrum, I believe Christian Revivalism would belong in the category of Authoritarian Left in the sense that the authority of God should be obeyed at all costs and left because this ideology opposes capitalism to a certain extent as it breeds greed, corruptness and inequality. On the traditional political spectrum, economically Christian Revivalism would be left-wing because it supports socialism as this system is founded on the
