Political party is a group of people whose role is to achieve common goals to its members through exercise and acquisition of political power. Political parties have ideological cores while some do not and some represent different ideologies than they did when they were initiated. Political parties are elected by electorate to run the government in democracies. Countries have different powerful political parties for example India, Germany, China as one party state and United States of America as a two-party system. In my discussion, I concentrate on the essence of parties in governance.

Parties rose to offer institutions where candidates are recruited and office holders become accountable to the promising ideas they spelt when asking for the office. Once a candidate wins the elections, he/she should achieve the goals he had set and presented to the citizens in order to win the elections. Political parties account their office holders by a challenger to the office holder or by recall of an election. This ensures office holders mature ideas into policies. Nowadays, candidates from civic institutions like legitimate parties are preferred because they are loyal to the institutions. In the United States, political leaders are only chosen from political parties (Isaacson & Walter 47). Parties in the two party systems have become institutions for restraining, testing, developing political leaders. Amalgamation and determination of political party’s by a popular vote in elections reflects the best way in promotion of personality into candidacy, ideas into policy and eventually to office holder. Chambers of civic and commerce clubs may offer elementary for leadership development but those supporters of fraternity and civility will never replace developed lawmakers from political parties. The capacity of lawmakers understanding and skills of public policy are grind by sharp debates, which take place in ideological and passionate atmosphere of the political party.
