The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is a failed state. The political system is fundamentally corrupt, it does not matter if you want to improve the country or not. The military is lacks proper equipment, resulting in less training and lower quality overall. Finally, the DRC’s society is struggling through diseases and inequality.
The US can help stabilize the DRC political system by sending over vaccines that the DRC doesn’t have access to. The US show how women having a say can have a positive effect on a society. Also helping the DRC with military quality can help stabilize their political system. If the US does not help the DRC, there will be more rebellions, and the corruption would get worse. The representatives are elected by the people and these representatives vote on laws and rules. The DRC is not politically stable. In elections, the participants think that their opinion matters when in reality it does not. The allegations of electoral fraud towards the current president, Joseph Kabila most likely came from the accusations of people purchasing votes for fish . Also, a Congolese Independent Election Commission (CENI) truck will transport the ballots to Kikwits compilation center and accusations have been made that the ballots were tampered with while they were on their way to the center .
After the dictatorship of Mobutu Sese Seko, there was a time of violence. Rebel proxies were involved and 4 million lives were lost. When Mobutu died in 1997, Kabila’s father took over. He was assassinated in 2001 . At the end of the current term, Kabila will have been in power for almost 15 years . The runner up of the election did not agree with the outcome. He called protests, he wanted the disloyalty from the military, and organizations and citizens are fighting back. After the Second Congo War (1998-2003), FARDC (Forces Armess de la Republique Democratique de Congo) also known as The Armed Forces of the DRC was formed. It was formed to take all of the elements and government forces in the main armed groups in the DRC and unify them . This is because the DRC’s military has corruption. The DRC soldiers’ pay is affected, some soldiers from time to time receiving no salary at all. There have been widespread reports that FARDC troops are participating in criminal activities. Most of the equipment is old and poorly maintained, resulting in poor combat readiness. Security challenges are making it difficult for the FARDC to do their job. In particularly, the rebel movements . The DRC’s military has 130,000 people in the military . If those people are not properly trained, do not know their targets, or do not know how to properly use equipment, then they most likely will not have a high chance of winning a war. At this point in time, there has not been reporting’s of potential basing facilities for the DRC
