One of the most important and crucial things for a community to survive is food and rationing. As the supply is low in a post apocalyptic world. Important scenes of Rick and his tight group of leaders (Daryl, Carol, Michonne and Carl) that help run the community deciding of a good layout for seeding and planting food are key messages from the directors. Quickly applying structure to the community and giving everyone specific jobs is a fast track way for growing and prospering as a group. A similar scene is placed in season 3 of “The 100”. Chancellor Pyke, the new elected leader of the Sky Crew has his chosen few (Bellamy, Monty and Hannah) help him decide on the best place for farms for planting. Scenes within both shows that are shown to us multiple times are placing members of the community in different jobs and roles. These scenes generally give a good overview at how a community is meant to be handled and what depth of jobs are needed. Such as certain people rotating on lookout; going out and searching for supplies; stocking the medical bay; prepping food and rationing. Some of the things that make a community grow and come together are the small things. With post apocalyptic shows becoming more popular, we’re getting throw a whole bunch of survival situations and how to deal with them. Within the last 10 years of life growing up, kids are being targeted and taught how to survive by themselves in the wild. This is done through many different schooling trips, TV shows which catch our attention as we will be intrigued and pick up these many skills through doing something we like. When a community is deprived of technology is when we will need to use these survival skills to help us along, as we will need to go back to the “old ways” of doing things. This will allow us to rebuild communities with a significant amount of resistance towards relying on technology. As said in Sherry Turkle’s “Connected, but alone?”, the people of today are depriving themselves of face to face conversations as technology has become their ‘Safe Haven’. This is seen in the shows through many ways, such as the zombies in “The Walking Dead” representing today’s society and how were selfish and alienated by technology. And in “The 100” through the significance of working together as a community(s). These messages are directed towards us now as it could quite possibly be a near future for the
