Haiti has been suffering from poverty for centuries. The issue we will be focusing on is Poverty since Haiti remains one of the poorest countries in the world and the poorest country in the Caribbean with More than 59% of the population living under the national poverty line. There are many causes for this issue which are all rooted to Haiti’s colonization. The main reasons for the high poverty rate are political instability through corruption, continuous foreign intervention(foreign economic dependence), and inadequate infrastructure. Poverty is hindering Haiti from any form of development and success.Though this problem of poverty is massive, there are a variety of way to advance the country. The first solution we will be focusing on is the construction of better infrastructure by making that a priority when distributing public funds. This would create jobs and protect Haiti from future costly destructions since they are prone to natural disasters. We would also propose inculcating more accountability within the judicial branch of the government to get rid of those who are corrupt thus making sure the distribution of money is going where the country needs it to. The last solution is to provide more access to education which will consequently help citizens end their cycle of poverty Having proper education teaches people how to govern a society.
