First of all, power could simply be physical means. Superheroes are physically built to transition objects, withstand harm, and attack their enemies. Weapons are powerful tools. They can attack and harm anything. In Frankenstein, with his body, the monster could simply destroy everything. People used rocks and different tools as weapons to attack the monster. In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov uses an axe as a form of power to kill the pawnbroker. Similar to physical power, mental toughness is also a powerful tool. In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne is a character of power. She is different from the Puritan society because of her sin and their beliefs. In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein wanted to overcome death. He was sad to see his mother passed away. Victor wanted to overcome the belief that death was final, so he created life from death. In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker just because he wanted to. In most societies, it’s just not normal to just kill. He wanted to feel the power of just being able to
