Throughout the course of this paper prejudice and discrimination of the Jewish People will be examined in the context of Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. A fictitious event about the experience of a young adult during the mentioned period will be presented followed by an examination of the event and interactions using Merton’s typologies. The paper will end with an explanation of the roles of power and control as they relate to the fictitious event.

The father assured Fritz, who was visibly frightened, that everything was going to be alright. The officers entered the home with official papers, searched the home, and confiscated everything of value, leaving only some old clothes and a mattress. After the officers departed, Fritz asked his father why this happened. His father thought for a moment, only to realize he suspects Fritz already knows the answer deep inside and says “For the same reason we get dirty looks from strangers when we walk down the street.
