During the last few centuries the core of human understanding of „race“ has changed in many different ways. The road to this change cost many lives. From those who were born in different skin colour, beliefs, to those as Martin Luther, who fought against the idea of anti-semitism, to banish all prejudice in terms of racial, cultural or religious beliefs.
Nowadays, the term of race and beliefs has been widely accepted. Despite how the cultural and racial diversity may look like, we still find the issue of acceptance. For example, U.S. is a country where racial impact was the strongest, and which eventually led to a civil war. For some, it may be justified as they come from criminal circles (ex: ghettos), but others with same skin colour suffer the same prejudice. Martin Luther believed that they will live in a world where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin. And of course, it had been accomplished. But then again, I ask myself; why do we still find racism? Why do people still judge people by the appearance and not about the inner values? There is no correct answer. Some people have always been ignorant and it seems to have been continuing throughout their generations. It’s up to us to criticize this behaviour, and teach those who enforce it how wrong it is, and hopefully, over the years it disappears. I personally believe people will always have a hard time accepting something different from themselves. No matter what the difference might be. We had always found a hard time trying to understand something that is not like us. This isn’t something wrong, as we’re not the same. We hold different ideas that makes us who we are. However, it’s not an excuse for hate or prejudice. If we want to be accepted for who we are, we should learn to accept others first. I believe only then we can find at least a glimpse of peace.
