A lot of times people talk about having the right to live but, to me, this is almost the same concept. What everyone fails to see is that our life as humans implies death. So as much as you argue that everyone has the fundamental right to live, it means the same as everyone has the fundamental right to die. Since we have the right to live by our own will, we should also have the right to determine our own course.
Despite these criticisms, the demand for Euthanasia is undiminished. As humans, we have the ability to determine our destinies. But imagine a life where a fatal illness has kept you from doing the basic things in your everyday life. Say you are a person that can’t move, breathe, or do anything on your own. The principles of living have been stolen from you. Selfhood and human dignity are the foundations of being human.
