The Patriot Act was put into place on October 11, 2001. The Patriot Act was created because of the terrorists attacks at the World Trade Center Towers in New York. Terrorists struck America on September 11, 2001 they took four planes and flew two of them into the World Trade Center towers causing the huge 110-story twin towers had collapsed. A part of the Pentagon was damaged. More than 3,000 people died in the attacks. The White house identified the terrorists as members of Al Qaeda.When the terrorists attacked America the U.S Senate passed the USA Patriot act making America better by giving the required tools to stop terrorists but only one senator Russell Feingold (D Wis,), voted against it.

The police use to have to get a permit. If they got the permit then they could search your house and use wiretaps. They also had pen trap orders and with that they can get numbers from the telephone company who you called but they also have to get a permit.
I think that the Patriot Act was not really a ok thing for America because we have the bill of rights and takes away that freedom of speech and freedom of privacy but there are some ok parts in the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act changed some acts in some ways. The FERPA Act has a clause that allows an organization to release a student's information to law enforcement if the safety and well being if that student was
