I Landon Lonergan, attend cedartown high school as a senior. After graduation I want to become a law enforcement officer. I'm currently taking the public safety pathway at cedartown high school. The public safety pathway will help me in the future when it comes to interviewing, on the job incidents and many more things. I plan to use what the pathway has taught me to help better myself in my future goals. Not only do I plan to use the public safety pathway, I plan to use many more courses provided from cedartown high school. The English department has helped and sharpened my knowledge on communications, to write correctly which would be used on police reports and many other things. From radios to call for backup to computers to run tag numbers, technology could determine if you make it home that night. Law enforcement agencies provide police officers with portable radios. This is used to call for back up, to run individuals names to check for warrants, call in tag numbers and to request other things to cover what they're dealing with. They are equipped with computers to run tags, names, and to fill out tickets if the radio traffic if busy. They use potable radars to check for speeding motorist. Their vehicles are also equipped with a radar for when their traveling. Each vehicle is equipped with a in car camera system. This is used every time the emergency lights are activated or when the officer activates it from the inside. Law enforcement officers use this for court evidence to defend or prosecute a suspect or to even defend themselves in some cases. Cars are also equipped with automatic license plate readers which will read your license plate and send the information straight to the police officers computer. The officer also needs to attend mandate school to be sworn in as a police officer. After meeting those requirements, the officer can join an agency and work for them if they meet the agency's qualifications. This will get them on the road but at the lowest pay given. To start off at a higher rank, and to make more money, they should attend a college and study criminal justice. This will give them more of a background knowledge of the law and help them when applying for a law enforcement agency.
