This was due to the peace treaty from France, they gave the land to America. It granted citizenship to Puerto Rico residents in 1917. That conveniently allowed many to fight in the first world war the following year. Later in 1950, Puerto Rico had the ability to become a commonwealth which as I said before it is part of the United States but govern itself. So in 1952, Puerto Rico wrote it’s own constitution and becomes a commonwealth.
Puerto Rico’s history is very rich and filled with important time events. Just one year after it became United States territory, Hurricane San Ciriaco hit the island, killing more than three thousand people and harming plantations. Precipitous mountains are to the west coast to the sea. Also deserts and canyons can be found there. There are caves located there as well. The Northern Plain is a strip of land five miles wide and 100 miles long. It’s an island so it’s on water. Famous and awesome places things to see in nature include a place like El Yunque. This is due to it being describe as a “dense oasis of greenery with 150 native fern species and 240 unique species of trees. Another place is Camvy Cave because it is one of the longest cave systems in the world! Also it had formed in the third largest underground river in the world. The caves are a very pretty sight to see. The last place is the Parguera Wall because it is very famous. As you can tell Puerto Rico has many amazing physical features, landforms, and attractions.
Human geography in Puerto Rico is a mixed variety. The population is about 3,598,357 people. The majority of the populations’ is between the following heritages: Latino, European, Spanish, African, and Taino. First it started between 20,000-50,000 Taino Indians but European diseases made the number decrease greatly. Then there were slaves there and makes up the African population. Most of the people there are more urban than rural. That means that they are more modern and have modern
