Puppy mills are a problem for the dog population because most have no set limit of how many puppies they will reproduce for one year, they just continue in a never ending cycle. As one can guess, to ensure more litters are born, the females have barely any time to recover in between litters which causes them to stress and their health may also decline. The last two problems with puppy mills are obvious and go hand in hand. Puppy mills are notorious for lacking in the husbandry department and tend to not take as good care of their dogs as dedicated owners. They usually cram them in cages that need to be cleaned more often than they really are, and some also fail to treat illness and diseases like they should (PAWS). This goes hand in hand with shyness and aggression because along with being crammed in cages, the dogs and puppies are not properly socialized. The lack of care for these dogs and one on one time can really affect the behavior of the animals. With this being said, there are things that could be done to improve puppy mills. The sources I used definitely had biased opinions, example being the ASPCA, and it even
