It helps to provide an insight into any problem and also helps develop ideas. Qualitative methods can range from semi-structured or structured techniques, for example focus groups (group discussions), individual interviews and participant/observations. The samples sizes for this technique are generally small and chosen to fulfil a quota.
1.2 Thematic Analysis
Thematic analysis is another form of qualitative research methods. Thematic analysis can help ‘identify, analyse and report patterns (themes) within data. It minimally organises and describes your data set in (rich) detail. However, frequently it goes further than this, and interprets various aspects of the research topic.’ (Braun and Clarke, 2006, p.79). A Thematic Analysis was conducted (shown in appendix 1) of the provided interview transcript for UWS School of Business and Enterprise. The initial analysis process breaks down the data collected into smaller, more manageable segments. According to Braun and Clarke (2006) the thematic analysis “.... provides a robust method towards identifying and analysing emerging patterns and themes within qualitative data” (p. 77-101). When conducting a Thematic analysis there are six phases the analyst should encounter, these are; * Data Familiarisation - becoming familiar
