The research design was a qualitive study with exploratory descriptive approach to identify and describe nurses experince. The qualitive study was within philosophical framework as it explores the response of people in real world situations. 15 nurses volunterrd to participate in the study. The nurses were made up of 13 Rns and 2 Ens, with two or more years experience giving direct patient care in team nuring enviroment and were employed at their current hospital for a minimum of 6 months. Three acute care hospitals were selected in New South Wales for the interviews in small groups of 5. Topic guides were used to assist. Interviews lasted 1 hour they were audiotaped and held in a meeting room in each hospital. From the data collected six themes were identified. Benefits of team nursing, team approach, team efffectiveness, increased responsibility, availability of support and engagement with the multidisliplinary team.Nurses described team nursing as patient-orientated, encouraging collaboration and enabling beter coverage of patients as well as providing better access to more experinced nurese as a refernece point for their decision making. The research design was a qualitive study using thematic analyis of data collected in a previous grounded theory study. There were 24 participant nurses who volunteered for the study. There were 18 RNs 3 Licenced practical nurses (LPNs) and 3 Care aids (CAs). The nurses ranged in age and experience, ages ranged 25-58yrs and expereince ranged 1 month to 35 years. 3 nurses were male 21 were female. Level of education also varied, 2 RNs had specialised education about older client care. The study conducted in two units in two hospitals. One unit was a medical unit in a community hospital, the other was a geratric speciality unit in a tertiary hospital. Both hospitals are located in Western Canada. Data collection entailed 375 hours of participant observation, interviews and reviews of selected documents that pertained to nursing care. Participant observation included observing the nursing team in action over a variety of times and days. Interviews occurred after participants observations, questions used were from a semi structured interview guide and included clarrifying questions about events that occurred during observations. This study provided insights into how nursing teams constituted of a variety of experience, education and scopes of practise are providing care for hospitalised older adults in challenging care
