Diabetes is condition where body cannot produce or respond appropriately to insulin which is a hormone that body needs to absorb and use glucose as fuel for the body’s cells.
It exist 3common types of diabetes described as type 2 diabetes resulting from a combination of resistance to the action of insulin and insufficient insulin production. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body loses its ability to produce insulin, and gestational Diabetes which is a complication of pregnancy that lead to perinatal complications in mother and child, (Healthy People, 2020).
The qualitative study outlines a growing issue with Type 1 Diabetes in the world today, with 215,000 children suffering from the condition in the U.S. These children require daily administration of insulin, which means they are dependent upon nursing care frequently. The problem statement surrounds the question of whether nurses and medical care providers are properly trained on diabetes management.
