Her backpack was heavy and difficult to hold while balancing on her crutches, so I offered to help her around school. The slick December snow was dangerous, especially when crossing the street, so I was always there to make sure she didn’t slip. The moment the radiographer came to bring her into the radiology room, she was treated harshly. As someone who has empathy and tries diligently to treat people with utmost respect, I was astounded by the way she was acting. When I become a radiology technologist, I will treat my patients with care, respect, and I will show empathy. But to do so, I need to get my associate degree at Rochester Community and Technical College. Firstly, I need my prerequisite credits which consist of science, math, and english. I will do that the first two semesters and then apply to the MCSHS radiography program. While going to school, I will stay with my parents at home, and if needed, stay the night at my aunt's house, who lives nearby. The program is an 18 month program that works with the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. It involves a variety of clinical settings, and a level 1 trauma center with equipment and patients. With the help of this Faribault Elk Lodge scholarship, I will be able to pay off my tuition without the effect of stress so I'm at my best.
