A lifetime without him Randy Pausch was an amazing husband, father, son, teacher, student, player and many more roles. Pausch decided to give one last lecture. That lecture is all about his life. Throughout his lecture Pausch talks about childhood dreams, optimism, and working. Pausch first talked about his childhood dreams. He wanted to be in the NFL. Sadly, Pausch never made it to the NFL. Another dream was to be a contributor of the World Book Encyclopedias. This was something he was able to accomplish. The makers contacted him to write in their next book. He would write a section about virtual reality. Pausch wanted to be Captain Kirk from the tv series Star Trek. Pausch wa never Captain Kirk but instead got to meet the actor who played him and make a virtual reality U.S.S. Enterprise. Pausch had a dream to be a Disney Imagineer. When he first applied Disney would out accept him. After meeting with the leader of the Imagineers he was given an opportunity. He could work for six months with the Imagineers and write a paper over it. Pausch eventually started to help other people fulfill their childhood dreams. When he was first diagnosed with cancer he did not give up. He fought. He did as much research as he could. He took all the treatments he could and finally for a brief time he was cancer free. When he went back for his checkup the cancer had moved to his liver. Instead of being distraught he began to joke and count how many tumors there were. Pausch was given advice which he gives to the reader. Look for the best in people. This is an optimistic trait to have and never lose. Pausch was highly optimistic after he was told that he only had three to six months. He was so optimistic that he went and bought a convertible.
