It is very difficult for our body to digest food during the time of our 24 hour cycle when it should be resting. The habit of eating a big meal late at night not only causes indigestion and difficulty sleeping properly, but it also contributes to weight gain. Since this food is not metabolized effectively, it is stored as fat.
It is beneficial to start getting used to eating three or four balanced nutritious meals a day at regular intervals. We must not let more than six hours go by between meals except between dinner and breakfast the next day. For many of us going a long time without eating during the day will cause our blood sugar to drop too low, and we will become tired, frustrated, and irritable. In addition, our concentration will suffer and so will our work. At the same time we will start making detrimental food choices that cause us to gain weight.
