Most parents want what is best for their kids. It can be hard for people to know what will help their children become more successful later in life. In Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers: The Story of Success, he discusses the advantage redshirting brings to sports, by giving a child time to develop and compares it to the education system. Though redshirting could be helpful in sports, it is more harmful in the education system. Holding a child back a year can harm them later on in life because the first six years of a kid's life are when the child's brain develops the most. Holding off school will not help the child grow and develop their brain. Redshirting should not be an option in the American education system. Redshirting brings disadvantages
