Whether it is at an airport, government building, or even at a school the way people are trusted and searched is very different from the year 2000. Airports have had the largest change. Travelers now have to undergo more thorough searches that involve full-body scans, pat downs, proof of identification, and restrictions on the items that are now allowed on airplanes, trains, and buses. Along with better security in airports and planes, in most cities it is very common to have metal detectors in multiple buildings for safety of those who enter. Foreigners, along with U.S. citizens, are no longer trusted as they once were, especially those who are of different ethnicities. Seeing someone who looks Arabian or like a Taliban is likely to cause a sense of alarm and worry about whether they could be a threat. It has definitely changed the way people view others upon first meeting
