A beautiful morning with a tragic ending. September 11, 2001 will always be a day that Americans will never forget. During this tragic day the United States changed drastically after a group of nineteen Islamic terrorists boarded four separate planes that they then hijacked, with knives and box cutters, crashing them into different locations that they had targeted across the eastern United States. It caused a total of 2,975 deaths, roughly 600 more than the deaths that occurred at Pearl Harbor. This was a tragedy that no one would ever forget exactly what they were doing at the exact time this massive terrorist attack occurred on one of the strongest nations in the world. It has been thirteen years since then, and yet the only causes for the events are simply just theories. Whether it is at an airport, government building, or even at a school the way people are trusted and searched is very different from the year 2000. Airports have had the largest change. Travelers now have to undergo more thorough searches that involve full-body scans, pat downs, proof of identification, and restrictions on the items that are now allowed on airplanes, trains, and buses. Along with better security in airports and planes, in most cities it is very common to have metal detectors in multiple buildings for safety of those who enter. Foreigners, along with U.S. citizens, are no longer trusted as they once were, especially those who are of different ethnicities. Seeing someone who looks Arabian or like a Taliban is likely to cause a sense of alarm and worry about whether they could be a threat.
