In the Old Testament as the bible begins to transform from the old covenant of God and the people of Israel. We begin to see a broader picture from God within his laws regarding idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Idolatry was a huge issue for Israel during her journey into a kingdom ever since Moses Israel has always had issues with worshiping false idols, one man that I could think of during my walk with Christ on who helped Israel to better understand with them worshiping false idols would one day lead them to a path away from God. Hosea is the man I grew up within my family knowing and understanding his teaching within regards to Israel’s behavior towards God ever since he rescued them from Egypt. Hosea would tell Israel and compare them to sour grapes in which that were in a path of destruction from God if they continued on their road in which they were on at the moment.
Instead of completely bashing the people of Israel and ruining their spirits. He begin to use examples of a marriage to relate to the people of how much man seeks God and at the same time how God seeks us even during our pit falls. But again today we seem to be following the exact same route that the Israel people were following during their start of their tribe and into their kingdom. Today we are faced with our idols which is mainly in today’s society is money, and the top brand of phones that anyone can get their hands on. We are going from a nation that once knew God and his face and reaping his full blessings. But instead we are falling into a nation in which Sodom was like with our own Idols of our Phones, and money on who can be the richest in a short period of time.
Now another big issue that has always threatened the Israel people was social injustice, ever since being a kid I never really understood what the preacher was always saying when he covered social injustice until I begin to learn and study Amos during my studies here in Liberty. Amos was teaching the people of Israel that with them not obeying Gods command but still growing within their own classes that they were dividing themselves from each other in which led them to not helping one another out or supporting their own brothers anymore. In Amos 5:14-15 states: “Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.” Amos was calling the Israel kingdom out on a lot of things in which led to the people of Israel to somewhat despise his teachings but also he grew with the believers who were mainly the lower class who needed hope and a voice for them and their belief. Amos goal was to teach the people of the harm they were doing to one another by leaving each other in the dark and becoming too aware of taking land from the needy to grow their own riches. In today’s society I bet you can say we need an Amo’s for the lower class as well as the Christian believer. We are seeing a lot of our very own people in America in which back in the day in the early 90’s we would still help one another no matter what religion or race we were in. But instead we have transformed from a Godly nation into a nation of money and need, I myself have fallen to victim of this as well with no one willing to help you due to them being too busy on making sure they were keeping up with the economy and everyone else around them. The example was I was behind on bills due to the military messed up pay up in which I did
