Most religions only have one text of their teachings, but if you look up books on spirituality, there is an endless amount of books you can find with all slightly different perspectives. I think a big reason why these two groups differ is because some people need to have direct guidance, the thought of the broadness of spirituality could bring some fear. Some people believe that certain religions were created to have control over others, weather negative or positive some people cannot be leaders and create their own spiritual path so they follow others. Another reason is because people who are apart of organized religions have that in-group mindset. I think another reason is that many spiritualist are of younger generations and have a more liberal way of thinking. They want the greatest good for the most amount of people so this way no one is cast out and everyone can feel like they belong. Although recently I have noticed that more Christian organizations are becoming accepting of homosexuals, which I believe correlates with what I have been learning in mythology about how religious texts have to change with what best suits the current times. Some religions have things like persists, bishops, cardinals, and the pope, while other religions have a different number of kingdoms to enter. Other religions have multiple gods while some newer religions are monotheist. I think some of these things were created to install fear and to keep a certain level of control over people but also to give people a since of hope, a reason to be good. I think that with spirituality having the openness that it does, it is very inviting to the rest of the world, but maybe some people would feel uncomfortable with there not being that kind of structure. The power structure and world view of organized religion could make an individual feel a number of ways depending on the individual, but some examples could be that one could feel empowered or be little, and involved in something bigger than themselves or outcasted. For an individual that is outcased by an organized religion, that could be very harmful to their psyche. Spirituality might be a good idea for such an individual to explore. Religion is controlled, while spirituality gives people their own freedom. People that I have talked to that claim that they are more in-tune with things on a spirituality says it is great to feel awoken, but at the same time it can come with a price because it can open the mind to things one may not want to be aware
