Leonardo da Vinci is a world known Italian Renaissance scientist, engineer, inventor, artist, architect, musician, mathematician, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer credited for his ability to think centuries ahead of his time. Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April
15, 1452 in the city of Vinci, Italy. By the time Leonardo was 15 years old, his father knew his son had and artistic talent.
Da Vinci received no formal education beyond basic reading, writing and math, but because his father appreciated his artistic talent so much, he arranged for Leonardo to become an apprentice of the famous sculptor and painter
Andrea del Verrocchio, of Florence. For about a decade, da Vinci refined his painting and sculpting techniques and trained in mechanical arts.
He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. It is the first known drawing of any helicopterlike machine.
The design was drawn in
1493, 450 years earlier than an actual helicopter would take to the air. The main blade was 2 meters in diameter, the supporting structure would be held together by reeds,
It was designed to work by having two men standing in the central circular platform. Each man would take hold of a wooden shaft and walk around the central shaft. This would rotate the
