The Louisiana Purchase is a very important part of our U.S. history. This piece of land extended from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian Border. The U.S purchased this land from the French, of about 828,000,000sq miles, for about $15 million. Also, because of the Louisiana Purchase, some of the 15 states were created under Thomas Jefferson’s presidency. So, the Louisiana Purchase had a pretty big impact on the U.S. The Louisiana Purchase consisted of parts of our states and large parts of historical land. It included six whole states, 9 portions of a state, and two parts of Canadian provinces. For instance, the US was very close on going to war over Louisiana. They almost went to war because according to a treaty with Spain, US farmers were allowed to send goods down the Mississippi River to get to New Orleans, but the merchants didn't have to pay any money. This is what led to the talk about going to war but was then justified and the war was declined. The Louisiana Purchase had its non-important moments just as much as it's important moments.
Now as interesting as this event was, this is now coming to an end.I know not many people didn't even know about the Louisiana Purchase to begin with.
