Throughout different periods in human history, revenge has served many different roles. The way revenge came about is unknown, but it is fueled by the same things. Revenge is a very unknown subject, and is not been clearly proven beneficial or harmful. However, by choosing revenge, studies have proven that it is not always the best for your happiness and moral. It can make you go to drastic measures just to get a little payback. By taking revenge over letting something go, you could make a small open cut, a massive scar that will not stop hurting.
To start off, revenge usually originates from three emotions that we feel, anger, hate, and jealousy. Anger is probably the most common source of revenge because anger can be used as good motivation to do something. In other words, anger makes people feel as they need to avenge or get revenge on someone, and cause them to do many things that we might see as irrational. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, when Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, Romeo seeks to find vengence. Romeo is angry over his friends loss, and feels that he must avenge Mercutio’s death to make the situation better. However, Romeo later finds out he is banished because of his actions of avenging Mercutio. This left Romeo ponding in sorrow if he should have done it differently. This is a great example on how revenge may not always be the best choice because it can leave you thinking if you should have taken a different approach. Romeo was influenced by anger and hate to take his actions not making him think of the consequences for his actions. Revenge can lead us to believe that we are making the right choice, but after the fact leaving us asking ourselves if we should have done it
