Roaring 20's Research Paper

Why has the second decade of the 20th century been dubbed the “Roaring 20’s”? The roaring 20s was a most spectacular decade in US history with the new emerging forms of pop culture such as developments in animation and entertainment, Jazz, and fashion, a steady economy due to the the coming age of consumerism, new technology(E.g. Automobiles) and a large republican government, and prohibition and all its effect, the twenties really does deserve its dub name that is synonymous with the call of a mighty predator. they were called flappers for the reason that they could go where they wanted in their autos and flap the social conformities that used to control them. with cars these flappers were “free” and could go more places, farther and wider than ever before and meet people they'd never thought they'd meet, go places they'd never go, and do things they'd never do.. advances in technology made for an easier and more comfortable lifestyle and the rise of consumerism(DBQ gallery walk Notes). wives could buy more timesaving appliances and then could get house chores done earlier and then get their own job and earn more money to buy more things. in the early 20s the film industry boomed and people could visit the nickelodeon more often to enjoy a nice silent film like a chaplin. in his decade there were many writer that rose in popularity sprouting to fame with their books such as Fitzgerald (the great gatsby) and Sinclair (the Jungle). jazz was made one of the first os recognizable genres of music that could be fully identified as being american music, this added to the culture.
