In the United States, a large percentage of pregnancies that end in abortion are caused complete carelessness of the would be parents. The parents choose to gamble and not use any form of contraception causing an unwanted pregnancy. “For women who demand complete control of their body, control should include preventing the risk of unwanted pregnancy through the responsible use of contraception or, if that is not possible, through abstinence” (Lowen). If a woman has control over her body, she also has control to avoid a pregnancy. She should be held responsible for her actions, if she becomes pregnant, and be forced to have her baby because it has just as much of a right to live as she does. However, pro-abortionists also argue that it is perfectly fine to abort a baby because it is not a human being until birth. “Since life begins at conception, abortion is akin to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Disagreements on this topic will continue for many years to come due to the large number of people supporting both sides. Abortion has cost the lives of millions of unborn babies in the United States alone. Every day the death toll of this terrible practice grows, and the lives of the innocent are lost forever. Abortion breaks a citizen’s guaranteed right to life and protection of that life. It strikes a nerve with many religious groups, contradicting God’s book and His intentions for His creation.
