Rogue waves and tsunamis have some similarities but more differences. Rogue waves are huge waves but are also called freak waves because of their size and appearance. The first rogue waves can reach heights of up to 100 feet high. For instance, in the article What Are Rogue Waves? the author states “The surrounding sea can appear calm when suddenly a wave as high as 100 feet above the ocean’s surface comes crashing towards you”(Simmons 58). This shows how unpredictable rogue waves are and how high they can get. 100 feet is the same height as 10 basketball hoops stacked on top of each other. It is almost like a wall of water and is 2 to 3 times bigger than an average wave. Additionally, the cause of rogue waves is when waves combine, creating a monster wave. For example, from the article What is a Rogue Wave? The author states “When two standard waves combine crest-to-crest, they merge and double in size(”Surfer today 1). Along with that, wind strength and ocean depth can determine how and if the rogue waves cause. Wind can blow ocean currents into one another, causing the collision and for them to combine crest to
