The first reason to justify this choice is that the fight would be more realistic than in either of the aforementioned versions because the audience would see real people on stage fighting with real swords and daggers that made real noises, not sound effects. Secondly, the actors would still be wearing the same historically accurate costumes, but instead of watching it on a screen, the audience could see them for real. Lastly, and most importantly, by being up close to the action, the audience could feel as if the were bystanders watching the fight as part of either the Capulets or the Montagues. Another part of this feeling would be listening to the characters speak directly to the audience. In conclusion, the text version was effective because of the clever use of language and the education that you get from reading it. The film version was effective because it had excellent visuals and the actual dueling was very well done. Better than both of these two versions however would be a play because things would seem more real and the actors could talk directly to the audience.
