I have attended plays several times before which have been performed at my high school, however I have never attended a play in an actual theatre that is designated for running plays only, so I would say the experience was comparatively distinctive. I chose to watch Romeo and Juliet because I have always admired the most popular Shakespearean love story of all times for its highly melodramatic nature and that it is deeply heart-touching. Therefore, I thought watching a lively performance of such a classic would be absolutely transfixing. Also, like most girls I enjoy watching love stories and romance in general, so I thought watching Romeo Juliet would be more entertaining than watching other plays being performed at Wayne State University. …show more content…
To make this scene possible, they had to use a stage elevator, which is in the middle of the stage and Juliet’s laying body is elevated on to the stage from below the stage. There was also a lot of smoke coming from the right side of the stage to facilitate the church scene. When Romeo comes to see Juliet, he sits next to her coffin on his knees and mourns over her death by showing sorrowful and sobbing expressions as he says his lines loudly in a very melancholic manner. And then he drinks the poison from the bottle and dramatically passes away by choking and saying dramatic lines with his loud voice. Then Juliet wakes up and after she has talked to Friar Lawrence, she notices Romeo dead and asks him to leave. She is bewildered and anxious out of her mind to see Romeo dead and she sits next to him and says dramatic lines in a melancholic tone of voice as well. Then she notices a poison bottle and she tries to drink it, but there was no poison left in the bottle. Thus, she stabs herself with a dagger in a powerful manner and lays dead by resting her head on Romeo’s lap as Romeo has passed away in a sitting position. This whole scene was extremely intense and
