Reagan always had the qualities of a leader. In 1947-1952 he was the president of the Screen Actors Guild. He met actress, Nancy Davis, who came to him for help after she was listed as a communist on the Hollywood blacklist. When Reagan met Nancy it was love at first sight. Reagan was afraid of remarrying because he just went through a painful divorce. Finally, in 1952 the pair wed and went on to have two children. His acting career was coming to an end but he managed to land the job as host on General Electric Theater in 1954. His job was to tour the United States as a relations representative. Reagan had run for governor of California and won in 1964. He was re-elected for a second term in 1970. In 1968 and 1976, Ronald tried to run for president but had failed to win the nomination.
