We continued to play catch and with every throw, the ball zipped through the air and popped every time it hit the glove. After we finished playing catch, we grabbed our bats and began swinging them with great force and concentration. When we were finished, we put the bats down and I took a drink of very cold water that chilled my body as it went down my throat. “We’re starting tryouts right now,” the coach exclaimed. As I jogged out to third, I looked up at the clear blue sky with a few dark-colored birds flying and I began to focus. With the pop of the bat, he hit a ground ball to me that rolled through the deep green grass that I was able to field with my glove and make a strong and accurate throw to first base. After we continued doing that for about 20 minutes, he said we could go back to the dugout for a break.
